I’ll make it short and sweet this week. Pitches for Green Wednesday, the marketing buzzword driving cannabis sales the day before Thanksgiving, have been landing in my inbox over the past few years as the legal landscape provides clarity to consumer purchasing decisions previously made on the underground market.

Overall, the data isn’t so shocking. Holidays are stressful and people love getting high on Thanksgiving, a day completely devoted to munchies. Can anyone be surprised that sales are obviously going to be higher?

According to BDSA, a Colorado-based cannabis market research firm, Green Wednesday sales in the California market were 55% higher than average non-holiday days in November 2021 and medical sales in Missouri were nearly twice as the daily average in November 2021. And cannabis edibles sales in California were 75% higher on Green Wednesday than other days in November. No kidding.

Between Green Wednesday, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday (am I missing any?), I’m a little fatigued by all the capitalism. Still, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to take a bong hit and then drop money on my annual jean replacement just like everyone else.

Should you need some inspiration for last minute shopping, here are a few of my favorite things that have shown up in my mailbox recently:

1.     Kiva’s Turkey Gravy
You have to appreciate the cannabis industry for having a pragmatic, yet appropriately kitschy limited edition edible product ready for Thanksgiving. While this is presently only available in California, it’s clearly the GOAT of Danksgiving. Laced with 10mg of THC, all you have to do is drop the gravy powder in one cup of water in a saucepan, bring to a boil, stir, simmer, serve and get stoned.

Believe or not, I haven’t had a bong for the past few years.
