Hey.
What are you doing this Saturday? Do you want hang out? Are you at home doing jack shit again? You are, aren’t you. You’re avoiding my texts and everyone else’s. Stop it.
This Saturday, two cool things are happening:
NUMBER ONE: ME.
Come to my book signing at Avoid the Day Bookstore for Indie Bookstore Day in the Rockaways at 9904 A Rockaway Beach Blvd. It is at 4:30 p.m. (420 if yr nasty). I will be signing copies of my book and talking about my New York Times best selling, Pulitzer Prize winning travel guide and Cannes Film Festival highly anticipated adapted film, “Easy Weekend Getaways in the Hudson Valley & Catskills.”
The book is a functional guide for finding artists and weirdos who used to live in Brooklyn who love good food, places to hit your vape pen or taste some wine, and roll around in giant hemp fields like mystical oxen for Taurus season. Or go camping or hiking or whatever. Then I can tell you about the time my photographer nearly ran over the Virgin Mary after a tornado swept through Newburgh. Most New Yorkers don’t even know about Newburgh and I had a ghost experience. That’s the kind of escapes you can expect to have if you read my book, or happen to be me.
For the record, ghost travel is a thing. So, I’m not even making that up. Look at these creepy baby dolls that are Brae Burn Mansion.
“Burn Brae Mansion is one of my favorite places to stay when I am up here.”
—Linda Blair, The Exorcist
Linda Blair has not co-signed on my book, but she did co-sign on a place that is featured in my book. So, by proxy, she clearly is a fan of my book, too. Linda Blair approved for easy weekend getaways!
Do you even realize how many celebrities have co-signed on me and don’t even realize it? It’s really hard accepting that I am famous now, but I am working humbling myself.
NUMBER TWO: DRONE AT HOME 2021
Experimental music space Basilica Hudson is hosting their annual 24 Hour DroneFest and you don’t even have to change your life very much to watch it. After all, you received this e-mail, which means you’re connected to the internet and that’s all you need in order to stream it live for their Drone At Home experience with WAVE FARM’S WGXC 90.7-FM that will be streaming live on Twitch. For 24 hours (obviously).
I am very excited for Canadian sound artist Chloe Alexandra Thompson, who has been a resident featured at fellow experimental sound space Pioneer Works in Brooklyn into sonic minimalism, spatial intervention, psychoacoustics, live-processed field recordings, and isolated frequencies.
God, it feels so nice to see words that resonate with massaging my entire brain and body. This is literally how you’re supposed to take an edible, lay down and meditate for very long periods of time.
I kind of want to know if paranormal sound devices are useful for experimental music, or if someone has done this. Please let me know in the comments.
